Math, English & Science Tutor – After-School Learning Lab

BioTroopers is looking for enthusiastic Math, English & Science Tutors to join our After-School Learning Lab.

Our Learning Lab runs Monday–Friday from 3:30–5:30 PM and provides elementary-aged children with a fun, supportive environment where they can strengthen their Math and English skills while exploring hands-on science every day.

About the Role

This is more than traditional tutoring. Our tutors will work with children individually and in small groups across Math, English and Science, helping them build strong academic foundations while developing curiosity, confidence and problem-solving skills.

A typical afternoon may include:

- Supporting students with Math concepts, problem solving and homework
- Building reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary and grammar skills
- Teaching and reinforcing age-appropriate science concepts
- Leading or supporting hands-on science experiments, models and challenges
- Encouraging children to ask questions, make predictions, collect observations and explain their thinking
- Helping students make connections between Science, Math and Language

BioTroopers will provide the framework and materials for science activities, but tutors should have a strong foundation in science and be comfortable explaining scientific concepts to children and facilitating experiments.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

- Has a robust foundation in Math,



English and Science
- Is comfortable teaching and supporting elementary-aged students
- Enjoys hands-on science and is confident facilitating experiments and activities
- Can explain concepts clearly and adapt their approach for different learners
- Encourages children to think through problems rather than simply giving them the answer
- Is patient, warm, dependable and engaging
- Can confidently manage and engage a small group of children

University/college students or graduates in Science, Education, Engineering, Math or related fields, teacher candidates, teachers and experienced tutors are encouraged to apply.

Schedule

The Learning Lab operates Monday–Friday from 3:30–5:30 PM at BioTroopers in Burlington.

Tutors do not necessarily need to be available five days a week. Please let us know which weekdays you can consistently commit to from 3:30–5:30 PM.

We're looking for people who can make learning feel exciting , whether that's working through a tricky Math problem, helping a child communicate an idea in writing, or discovering something unexpected during a science experiment.

Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
