About Iris & Oak:
Iris & Oak is a new high-end boutique optical store opening in Burlington. Our warm, oak-finished space is designed for an elevated, personal eyewear experience, with an optometrist on-site. We're looking for an experienced optician to lead the store from day one.
The Role
You'll be the go-to person in the store, running day-to-day operations independently while delivering a premium client experience.
Responsibilities
- Dispense and fit eyeglasses (and contact lenses if licensed)
- Interpret prescriptions; recommend frames and lens options
- Take measurements, adjustments, repairs and quality checks
- Manage the full store: opening/closing, scheduling, cash and POS
- Order and manage frame and lens inventory; work with suppliers and labs
- Coordinate with the optometrist on patient flow and bookings
- Process insurance claims and direct billing
- Help shape the store's processes and client experience as we launch
- Registered Optician in good standing with the College of Opticians of Ontario (COO)
- [3–5+] years of dispensing experience
- Comfortable working independently and running a store solo
- Strong frame styling and lens knowledge (progressives, premium coatings)
- Experience with insurance billing and optical management software
- Professional, polished, client-first manner
Nice to Have
- Boutique or independent optical experience
- Contact lens fitting certification
- Social media or local marketing experience
