ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM
SITA FOR AIRCRAFT runs one of the world's largest secure private networks and manages a leading aircraft communications ecosystem. Our VHF/VDL data network, delivered over the aeronautical VHF band, carries critical cockpit communications for airlines every day.
You'll join the Americas VHF Infrastructure team, a small, close-knit group that keeps this network running across North and South America. The work combines RF, IP networking, telecom equipment and remote sites. You'll handle day-to-day operations and troubleshooting, and you'll contribute to deployments and network improvements. You'll also build specialist expertise in aviation VHF/VDL communications.
We're looking for someone with solid telecom, RF or networking fundamentals and a real passion for solving problems. We'll teach you the aviation side.
Language requirement: This role supports our Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking markets across the Americas, so professional-level English and Spanish (or Portuguese) are essential.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Resolve incidents, tasks and problems on VHF ground stations, using a structured approach across RF, equipment, IP connectivity and WAN links.
- Monitor station performance and availability, and follow up on issues such as VSWR, intermittence and configuration problems.
- Support VHF projects such as new stations, relocations, site optimization and break-and-fix. This covers site surveys, equipment ordering, installation, cutover and handover, with growing ownership over time.
- Coordinate with local suppliers,
field engineers and airport or site contacts across the Americas, in Spanish, Portuguese and English, to get activities executed and closed.
- Contribute to technical analysis of station performance and recommend corrective actions.
- Keep procedures, site documentation, diagrams and incident reports accurate and up to date.
- Follow SITA's incident, change and request management processes, and suggest improvements.
- Work with colleagues across countries and time zones.
Qualifications:
WHO YOU ARE
- Language requirement: Professional working proficiency (spoken and written) in English AND Spanish is required. Professional proficiency in English and Portuguese will also be considered. You'll communicate daily with suppliers, airports and local authorities in Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, telecommunications or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in telecommunications, RF, networking or technical infrastructure.
- Good understanding of RF fundamentals, including antennas, RF cabling and wireless communication systems.
- Good knowledge of IP networking (TCP/IP, routing, addressing, VPN) and the ability to diagnose connectivity issues.
- Hands-on experience installing, supporting or troubleshooting telecom equipment and remote infrastructure.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a structured approach to isolating problems.
- Experience working with suppliers, technical teams and other stakeholders in an operational environment.
- Ability to write transparent technical documentation, such as procedures, diagrams and incident reports.
- Good communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Availability for occasional travel to technical sites and airports.
Nice to Have
- Fluency in both Spanish and Portuguese.
- Experience with VHF, VDL or other mission-critical RF systems.
- A background in aviation, telecommunications,
mobile networks or critical infrastructure.
- Experience with remote infrastructure, monitoring tools or network management systems.
- Exposure to site deployment or commissioning.
- Knowledge of ITIL or incident, change and problem management environments.
- Experience in an international or multi-country environment.
- Relevant technical certifications (networking, RF, telecom or ITIL).
