We are seeking a skilled and dedicated butcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in food handling and preparation, with a passion for delivering high-quality meat products to our customers. As a butcher, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our meat department operates efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and customer service.
Duties
- Prepare a wide variety of cuts including beef, pork, poultry, and specialty meats, along with making our in-house sausages and burgers
- Perform meat cutting and trimming tasks according to company standards and customer specifications
- Ensure all meat products are prepared, packaged, and labeled accurately for display
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the meat preparation area in compliance with food safety regulations
- Monitor inventory levels of meat products and report any shortages or discrepancies to management
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with their meat selections and answering any questions they may have
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines while handling knives and other equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive work environment and ensure smooth operations
Qualifications
- Proven experience in the food industry, specifically as a butcher or as line cook/chef is essential
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations
- Strong knife skills
- Excellent food handling skills with an emphasis on cleanliness and sanitation
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items as needed
