Overview
We’re hiring an experienced Auto Body Prepper / Painter. You’ll take repaired vehicles from bare panel to showroom finish. That means careful surface prep, accurate colour matching and flawless paint work that makes repairs invisible. We’re looking for someone detail-oriented who takes pride in their finish, works well in a fast-paced shop and wants to grow with a team that values quality.

Duties

- Prepare vehicle surfaces for paint: sanding, featheredging, masking, cleaning and degreasing
- Apply body filler, glazing putty and primer/surfacer, then block-sand to a smooth, even finish
- Mix, tint and match paint colours using paint codes, mixing systems and spray-out cards
- Apply sealers, base coats and clear coats in the spray booth with consistent, high-quality results
- Blend paint into adjacent panels for a seamless colour match
- Wet-sand, buff and polish to remove defects such as dust nibs, runs and orange peel

- Maintain spray guns, the paint booth, the mixing room and prep areas in clean working order
- Follow safety and environmental procedures, including PPE, respirator use and proper handling and disposal of paints and solvents
- Work with body technicians and the shop manager to meet repair timelines and quality standards

Qualifications

- Proven experience as an auto body prepper and/or painter in a collision or body shop
- Strong knowledge of automotive refinishing products, including waterborne and/or solvent-based systems
- Skilled in colour matching, blending and tinting
- Comfortable using spray guns, DA sanders, polishers and spray booth equipment
- Sharp eye for detail and a commitment to a flawless finish
- Able to work efficiently and handle multiple vehicles in a fast-paced workplace
- 310B Auto Body & Collision Damage Repairer or Automotive Painter certification is an asset
- WHMIS training is an asset
- Prep-only candidates looking to grow into a painter role are welcome to apply
