The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing relationships with business owners and referral partners, conducting detailed insurance needs assessments, and designing appropriate commercial insurance solutions.
In addition to business development, the Producer will remain actively involved with their clients after the sale and provide ongoing day-to-day service, including policy changes, renewals, coverage questions, certificates, claims-related inquiries, and other client needs.
Key Responsibilities

- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective commercial clients.
- Develop relationships with business owners, professionals, lenders, real estate professionals, contractors, and other referral sources.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments and identify clients’ insurance needs.
- Prepare and present commercial insurance proposals tailored to each client’s operations and risk profile.

- Place new commercial accounts and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with regulatory and brokerage standards.
- Take ownership of the day-to-day service of the commercial accounts generated by the Producer, including endorsements, certificates, policy changes, coverage questions, renewals, and claims inquiries.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and proactively identify opportunities to improve coverage or identify additional insurance needs.
- Develop and maintain long-term client relationships that support retention and account growth.
- Collaborate with internal service teams, underwriters, and insurance markets to deliver efficient and client-focused solutions.
- Maintain accurate client and prospect information within brokerage management and CRM systems.
- Meet established new-business, retention, and revenue objectives.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Commercial Insurance Broker, Producer, Account Executive, or similar role.
- Strong commercial insurance knowledge, including risk assessment, coverage analysis, marketing, negotiation, and policy placement.
- Demonstrated ability to generate new business and develop a commercial book of business.
- Strong understanding of Canadian commercial insurance products and market practices.
- Experience working with small to mid-sized businesses is an asset.
- Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to independently manage a sales pipeline and consistently pursue new opportunities.
- Ability and willingness to provide hands-on day-to-day service to clients after the account is written.
- Proficiency with insurance brokerage management systems, CRM platforms, Microsoft Office, and related technology.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Edmonton office and broader brokerage network.
- Valid Alberta general insurance broker licence (Level 1 or higher).
- Clean professional and regulatory record.
- Post-secondary education in business, finance, insurance, or a related field is an asset; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
What We Offer
- Established brokerage platform and support from an experienced brokerage network.
- Access to a broad range of commercial insurance markets and products.
- Opportunity to build and grow your own commercial book of business.
- A role with significant autonomy and responsibility.
- Edmonton-based satellite office environment with flexibility where appropriate.
- Support from experienced brokerage, underwriting, and internal service teams.
- Opportunity for long-term professional and financial growth based on business development and client relationships.
