We are currently looking for a dependable and enthusiastic On-Call/Relief Early Childhood Educator to join our team.

About the Position

This is a casual, on-call position designed to provide coverage when regular educators are away due to illness, vacation, appointments, training, or other staffing needs.

The successful candidate should have flexible availability and be comfortable working with different age groups and in different classrooms as needed.

Hours are not guaranteed and may vary from week to week. Some shifts may be scheduled in advance, while others may be offered on short notice.

Responsibilities

As an On-Call/Relief Educator, you will:

- Provide safe, responsive, and nurturing care to children
- Work with infants, toddlers, preschool, pre-K, kindergarten, and/or school-age children depending on program needs
- Maintain required child-to-educator ratios and active supervision
- Support classroom routines, transitions, meals, diapering/toileting, rest periods, and outdoor play
- Engage children in developmentally appropriate, play-based experiences
- Support child-led and emergent curriculum practices
- Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families, and fellow educators
- Follow individual care plans, allergy requirements, health and safety procedures, and facility policies
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized classroom environments




- Complete required classroom documentation and communicate important information to the appropriate team members
- Assist with opening and closing duties when scheduled
- Adapt quickly and confidently when providing coverage in different classrooms
- Work collaboratively with permanent classroom educators and management

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants must:

- Hold a valid Alberta Early Childhood Educator certification (Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3) or be eligible to obtain certification
- Have a valid Standard First Aid & CPR certification
- Provide a current Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check
- Have a genuine interest in working with children
- Be dependable, punctual, professional, and responsible
- Be comfortable working with multiple age groups
- Be able to follow established classroom routines and facility policies
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills
- Be able to respond calmly and appropriately to children's individual needs and behaviours
- Be available for occasional short-notice shifts

Previous experience working in a licensed childcare setting is an asset.

Availability

We are particularly interested in candidates who have flexible weekday availability between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

This position is ideal for someone looking for casual childcare experience, additional hours, or a flexible work schedule.

Because this is an on-call position, regular or guaranteed weekly hours are not guaranteed.

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1.0 – 16.0 per week
