We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Daycare Director / Assistant Director to join our team in St. Albert. We are looking for a motivated individual with robust leadership, organizational, and communication skills who is passionate about early childhood education and committed to providing high-quality childcare.

The successful candidate will help oversee daily daycare operations, support and supervise staff, ensure compliance with licensing regulations, and create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children.

A valid Level 3 Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate is required. Candidates must also be willing and able to work in the classroom as needed.

Job Responsibilities

Leadership and Administration

- Oversee and support the daily operations of the daycare.
- Assist with staff supervision, scheduling, and performance management.
- Ensure the daycare complies with all Alberta childcare licensing requirements and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, attendance, and staff files.
- Assist with parent inquiries, enrolment, tours, and family communication.
- Support the development and implementation of daycare policies and procedures.
- Address concerns professionally and maintain positive relationships with parents and staff.

Classroom and Childcare Responsibilities

- Work in the classroom and provide direct care and supervision when required.
- Supervise and monitor children in a safe, caring, and supportive environment.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote children's learning and development.
- Assist children with daily routines, including feeding, diapering, and nap times.
- Foster positive social interactions and support children's developmental needs.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the daycare environment.




- Support children with diverse needs, including children with special needs.

Qualifications and Skills

- Valid Level 3 Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate required.
- Previous experience in a daycare or early childhood education setting.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta childcare licensing regulations and standards.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and work collaboratively with a team.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is an asset.
- Strong classroom management and teaching skills.
- Compassionate, patient, dependable, and professional.
- Ability to multitask and manage administrative and classroom responsibilities.
- Preference will be given to candidates who hold a valid Class 4 driver's license.
