Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support during evening and overnight hours
- Monitor clients’ health status by observing vital signs and reporting any changes or concerns promptly to healthcare professionals
- Provide emotional support and companionship to help reduce feelings of loneliness or anxiety during late hours
- Ensure a safe environment by maintaining cleanliness, preventing falls, and adhering to safety protocols
- Support medication reminders and assist with basic health-related tasks as directed by healthcare plans
- Document care provided accurately in client records and communicate any significant observations to the care team
- Respond promptly to emergencies or urgent needs, following established procedures for safety and well-being
Skills
- Proven experience as a Personal Support Worker or similar caregiving role, preferably with evening/night shift availability
- Strong understanding of personal care techniques, safety standards, and infection control practices
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect empathetically with clients of diverse backgrounds
- Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations while making quick, effective decisions
- Flexibility to work overnight hours and adapt to changing client needs
- Basic knowledge of health monitoring tools such as blood pressure cuffs or pulse oximeters is an asset
- Certification as a Personal Support Worker or equivalent credential is required; additional certifications in CPR or first aid are preferred
