POSITION OVERVIEW

The Equipment Operator at DESA Glass is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment within the yard, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of materials, tools, and equipment. This position requires a skilled operator who can manage equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and other machinery to support the loading, unloading, and storage of materials in a controlled and organized manner. The Equipment Operator ensures that the yard remains organized, materials are stored safely, and production deadlines are met by maintaining smooth operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Safely operate a variety of heavy machinery and yard equipment, including forklifts, cranes, and other specialized equipment, to load, unload, and transport materials.

· Move materials to and from various workstations, ensuring they are stored properly and in an organized manner to prevent damage and facilitate easy access.

· Assist in managing inventory within the yard, keeping track of material quantities, and ensuring items are easily located when needed. Report discrepancies and low stock levels to the appropriate department.

· Adhere to all safety protocols, ensuring the safe operation of equipment and proper handling of materials. Conduct regular safety checks on equipment and report any malfunctions or issues to the maintenance team.

· Work closely with other departments, including production, shipping, and receiving teams,



to ensure materials are delivered to the right locations and on schedule.

· Routine inspections and basic maintenance on yard equipment to ensure proper functioning. Report any technical issues or required repairs to the maintenance team.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment. Ensure materials are stacked securely and accessible for easy retrieval.

PRIMARY TASKS

· Operate heavy machinery and yard equipment safely and efficiently.

· Transport materials from storage areas to production areas, ensuring proper handling to avoid damage.

· Keep accurate records of materials handled, equipment usage, and any issues or safety concerns.

· Assist with the unloading of trucks and containers, storing materials appropriately.

· Perform regular safety checks on equipment, ensuring compliance with all safety standards.

· Work collaboratively with other team members to meet operational needs and production schedules.
