Mechanical Designer / CNC Programmer & Machinist
TNK Inc. | Dunnville, ON | Full-Time, On-Site
ABOUT US
TNK Inc. designs and manufactures custom mechanical components for customers across many industries. Our recent projects include electric vehicle components and custom aluminum molds. We handle the whole job in-house, from design to programming to finished part. Our design team is growing, and we're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Designer to support new and ongoing projects.
THE ROLE
This is a hands-on role for someone who can take a project from customer drawing to finished part. You'll design and model parts, write CNC programs in Fusion 360, then set up and run the machines yourself. You'll work closely with our machinists and directly with customers, so attention to detail and clear communication matter as much as technical skill.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Create and update 3D models and drawings for custom parts and assemblies in Fusion 360 or SolidWorks
- Read and interpret customer engineering drawings, CAD files and specifications
- Write CNC toolpaths and programs in Fusion 360 CAM
- Set up CNC machines (fixturing, tooling and work offsets) and run parts from customer drawings and CAD
- Prove out current programs, make adjustments and check first parts against the drawing
- Support design and prototyping of mechanical components, from concept to production
- Work with customers to understand project requirements and suggest design improvements for manufacturability
- Keep the team updated on project progress and next steps
- Help order materials and tooling for projects
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent hands-on experience
- 3+ years of CAD and mechanical design experience (co-op experience considered)
- Strong skills in Fusion 360 and/or SolidWorks
- Experience programming CNC machines, ideally with Fusion 360 CAM
- Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes
- Able to read engineering drawings, including GD&T;, tolerances and specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Works well in a team and is willing to learn and adapt
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience in a metal shop, machine shop or custom fabrication environment
- Experience with mold work or EV and automotive components
- Familiar with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges)
WHAT WE OFFER
- Hands-on work that covers design, programming and machining
- A wide range of custom projects across different industries
- A growing team where your ideas and skills make a real impact
- On-site parking
- Store discount
