Position Summary

The Journeyperson Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic – Residential Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing residential heating, cooling, heat pump, refrigeration, and related HVAC systems.

At Centennial Plumbing, Heating & Electrical, technical ability is only part of the role. Our Service Technicians are trusted to provide homeowners with an exceptional experience by communicating clearly, identifying concerns accurately, presenting appropriate solutions, completing high-quality work, and treating every customer and home with respect.

The successful candidate will be an experienced refrigeration technician who takes pride in their workmanship, can diagnose problems efficiently, works well independently and as part of a team, and represents Centennial professionally in our customers' homes.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose, service, maintain, and repair residential air conditioning, heat pump, refrigeration, and HVAC equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, airflow, and control-related issues.
- Perform system testing, start-up, commissioning, maintenance, and performance verification.
- Recover, charge, and handle refrigerants safely and in accordance with applicable regulations and manufacturer requirements.
- Identify the root cause of equipment or system concerns and recommend appropriate repair or replacement options.
- Clearly explain findings, recommendations, and available options to homeowners so they can make informed decisions.
- Complete approved repairs efficiently and to Centennial's quality standards.
- Perform preventative maintenance and identify potential reliability, safety, comfort, or efficiency concerns.




- Review the complete HVAC system when appropriate rather than focusing only on the immediate symptom.
- Complete required job documentation, notes, photos, equipment information, invoices, and other records accurately and on time.
- Maintain a clean, organized, properly stocked service vehicle.
- Safeguard company tools, equipment, materials, and customer property.
- Follow Centennial's safety policies, procedures, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Participate in the company's on-call rotation as required.
- Work collaboratively with Service, Installation, Electrical, Plumbing, Sales, Warehouse, CSR, and other Centennial team members.
- Support apprentices and less-experienced technicians through coaching and knowledge sharing when appropriate.
- Participate in technical, customer service, safety, and company training.
- Identify opportunities to improve the customer's comfort, safety, efficiency, indoor air quality, or equipment reliability without using high-pressure sales tactics.
- Perform other related duties reasonably required within the scope of the position.

QualificationsRequired

- Saskatchewan Journeyperson Certificate in the Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic trade, or recognized equivalent permitting journeyperson-level work in Saskatchewan.
- Strong residential HVAC/R diagnostic and troubleshooting ability.
- Experience servicing residential air conditioners, heat pumps, refrigeration systems, controls,



and related HVAC equipment.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, technical documentation, equipment specifications, and manufacturer information.
- Valid driver's licence with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of residential service work.
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.

Preferred

- Residential service experience.
- Experience with cold-climate heat pumps and dual-fuel/hybrid heating systems.
- Experience servicing furnaces, boilers, humidification, indoor air quality, and related residential comfort equipment.
- Gasfitter licence or applicable gas certification.
- Red Seal endorsement.
- Experience using ServiceTitan or similar field-service software.

Pay: $30.00-$50.00 per hour
