Overview

The Material Prep & Maintenance Tech prepares raw material for production and keeps the shop’s equipment, shop floor, and building in safe working order. The role involves accurately measuring, cutting, and labelling material so production stays on schedule, managing material inventory safely, and carrying out routine maintenance that prevents downtime and accidents.

The successful candidate is highly organized and able to set priorities and work independently to meet objectives. They are technically strong, communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, and work respectfully as part of a team.

Duties

- Safely and accurately measure, cut and debur material for floor staff, using metal cutting vertical and horizontal bandsaws and other cutting equipment.
- Manage inventory and ensure materials are cut on time to avoid downtime in production.
- Label materials properly and accurately to ensure traceability.
- Move and store materials with a forklift.
- Maintenance of manual and CNC lathes and mills, which includes cleaning coolant, and lubricating.
- Maintenance of general shop floor cleanliness and safety, emptying garbage and chip containers and sweeping.
- General maintenance of the building; changing light bulbs, fixing air leaks, etc.
- Shoveling and salting walkways as required.




- Other duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate for the employee’s capabilities.

Qualifications

- Two years of general maintenance experience and demonstrated technical and mechanical abilities are required.
- Knowledge and skill in utilizing tools such as metal bandsaws and table saws.
- Organized and proactive with the ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks promptly.
- Responsive, respectful, and willing to follow directions to work within a team environment.
- Ability to read a measuring tape in metric and inches.
- Capable of communicating with clarity – written and verbal.
- Forklift certified or a willingness to become certified.
- Valuable knowledge of workplace safety and compliance with safety rules and regulations.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.

Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 42.5 per week
