Sales & Marketing ManagerDOBI Reading Program
Location: Langley, British Columbia
Job type: Full-time
Schedule: 5 days a week in person, work from home as needed
Compensation: $45,000 CAD annual base salary plus uncapped commission
Supporting: Our Langley, Calgary, and Spruce Grove locations
About DOBI
DOBI Reading Program provides individualized tutoring and learning support for children with learning differences. We help students build academic skills, confidence, and greater independence through engaging, personalized instruction.
We are hiring a driven Sales & Marketing Manager to help more families discover DOBI and enrol in the right support for their children.
You will take ownership of generating leads, managing our marketing and social media, speaking with prospective families, and converting enquiries into enrolments. You will work directly with the owner and collaborate closely with our Regional Manager and location managers.
This role requires hustle
We are looking for someone who creates opportunities and follows through.
You should be comfortable picking up the phone, starting conversations, building relationships, asking for the enrolment, and following up consistently. When an approach isn’t producing results, you investigate, suggest improvements, and take action.
Our initial growth strategy centres on outreach, referrals, community partnerships, and organic marketing. You must be resourceful and comfortable generating business without relying on a paid advertising budget.
Success in this position requires daily initiative, consistent activity, robust organization, and accountability for results. You should enjoy taking ownership, setting priorities, and moving work forward independently.
What you will do
Generate leads and build local relationships
- Develop and execute practical marketing plans for our locations.
- Proactively build relationships with schools, community organizations, professionals, and other potential referral partners.
- Develop referral opportunities and follow up with previous enquiries and interested families.
- Test new ways to reach parents, track what works, and improve your approach.
Own the sales process
- Respond promptly to enquiries and conduct thoughtful discovery conversations with parents.
- Understand each family’s concerns, goals, and practical needs.
- Explain DOBI’s services, pricing, and the educational team’s recommendations clearly and confidently.
- Address questions, schedule assessments, follow up,
and guide families through enrolment and payment setup.
- Introduce additional services and summer options when they fit the student’s needs.
- Maintain accurate records of leads, conversations, and next steps.
Manage social media and content
- Own the content calendar and day-to-day management of our social media channels.
- Create and publish frequent, useful content, including posts, short videos, parent education, tutor introductions, and approved student success stories.
- Coordinate with our locations to collect content and showcase the DOBI experience.
- Respond to enquiries and guide interested parents toward a conversation.
- Track which content generates relevant enquiries and enrolments.
Learn our services and strengthen our messaging
- Develop a working understanding of structured literacy, executive functioning support, and the learning challenges our students experience.
- Observe tutoring and work closely with our Regional Manager to understand how DOBI supports students.
- Refine sales conversations and marketing materials using feedback from our educational team.
- Communicate accurately and respectfully, with instructional recommendations guided by qualified program staff.
Help fill available tutoring appointments
- Communicate regularly with location managers about tutor availability, open time slots, and enrolment priorities.
- Match interested families with suitable services, tutors, and appointment times.
- Coordinate campaigns and outreach around available capacity and seasonal opportunities, including summer.
- Provide clear handovers so families receive a smooth experience from their first enquiry to their first lesson.
What we are looking for
- Demonstrated success in sales, business development, or growing a service business.
- Experience generating your own leads and personally converting opportunities into paying customers.
- Strong communication skills and confidence speaking with parents by phone, video, and in person.
- Practical social media skills, including writing content, creating simple graphics, and producing short videos.
- Strong organization and consistent follow-through across multiple locations and priorities.
- Comfort using a CRM, spreadsheets, and common content creation tools.
- Initiative, persistence, sound judgement, and motivation to earn through performance.
- The ability to work independently from home and collaborate effectively in a shared workspace.
- A respectful, empathetic approach to families navigating learning challenges.
Experience in tutoring, education, or services for families is an asset. You must be willing to learn our programs and represent them accurately.
Work arrangement and environment
This is a hybrid position with three days per week working in person at our Langley location and two days working from home.
In-person work takes place primarily in a shared workspace, with no dedicated private office. You should be comfortable working in an active tutoring environment where children, families, and staff are present.
A background check is required because children attend our workplace.
How we will measure success
We will review both your activity and the results it produces, including:
- Qualified enquiries generated.
- Referral relationships developed.
- Assessments booked and attended.
- New students enrolled and eligible tuition collected.
- Suitable additional services and summer sessions booked.
- Available tutoring appointments filled.
- Consistent follow-up, accurate records, and useful marketing output.
Compensation
- $45,000 annual base salary.
- Uncapped commission: 10% of tuition sales
- Existing-family growth commission: 10% of eligible additional tuition collected when you sell an added service, for the first 12 months of that service.
- Commission eligibility and payment terms will be set out in a written compensation plan.
You will have direct access to the owner, support from our educational team, and the opportunity to build a repeatable sales and marketing process across three locations.
How to apply
Apply through Indeed with your résumé.
We are looking for someone who takes initiative, follows through, and is motivated to help more families access the right support for their children.
Pay: $60,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
