Drive operational accounting and process improvement for Canada Life’s Canadian finance ecosystem, with leadership across close, controls, and team development. Work permanently full time in Toronto, London, or Winnipeg.

As Assistant Vice-President, Accounting, you will lead operational accounting processes and quarterly close activities for Workplace Benefits & Retirement, Individual Insurance, and Wealth. Reporting to the Vice-President, Canada Controller, Financial Planning & Accounting, you will elevate process quality, strengthen internal controls, and foster innovation. The scope includes four direct reports and a broader team of approximately 65 FTE.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead quarterly close across three Canada Life business areas
- Strengthen internal control practices across accounting operations




- Build relationships across Canadian and Lifeco Finance teams
- Provide coaching for performance and development
- Partner on transactions and strategic accounting initiatives

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree required; CPA preferred
- 10–15 years progressive accounting or operational accounting experience
- Knowledge of IFRS and financial services accounting processes
- Reliability Status Security Clearance required as condition of employment
- Capabilities in results, talent, innovation, and collaboration
