About the Role

Our client, a well-established retail group, is seeking an experienced Legal Advisor with a strong focus on Employment Law to join their legal team. This role, based in Kimberley , will be responsible for providing expert advice on all aspects of employment-related legal matters, ensuring compliance with labor legislation, and managing employee relations issues. The successful candidate will work closely with HR and management to navigate complex employment scenarios, draft policies, and mitigate legal risks. This is an excellent opportunity for an employment law specialist to contribute to a significant organization in the Northern Cape.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide legal advice on all employment-related matters, including dismissals, retrenchments, disciplinary procedures, and grievances.
- Ensure compliance with the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, and other relevant labor legislation.
- Draft, review, and update employment contracts, HR policies, and procedures.
- Represent the company in the CCMA and Bargaining Councils.
- Advise on employment equity, affirmative action, and skills development matters.
- Manage and advise on workplace disputes and investigations.
- Conduct training for HR and management on employment law compliance.
- Stay abreast of developments in labor law and industry best practices.




- Assist with due diligence processes related to employment law aspects of mergers and acquisitions.

Requirements

- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience, specializing in Employment Law.
- In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation and case law.
- Proven experience in advising on complex employment disputes and representational experience at the CCMA/Bargaining Councils.
- Excellent drafting skills for employment-related documentation and policies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of staff.
- Ability to manage a caseload and work effectively under pressure.
- Experience in a retail or fast-paced corporate environment is advantageous.
