Job Responsibility:

Job SummaryWe are seeking a passionate and dedicated Cafe Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for coffee and leadership.

As a supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of baristas and maintaining daily keyholder cafe operations.

Duties

- Welcoming customers & maintaining a strong focus on customer experience
- Taking orders, making product recommendations to customers and processing transactions
- Holding keys and being responsible for the opening and closing of the café
- Cash handling
- Directing and determining staff positions throughout the shift
- Organizing stock & receiving deliveries
- Processing pre-orders through the POS system
- Preparing and serving specialty coffee drinks including espresso-based beverages in line with 49th Parallel's standards
- General product knowledge, as it relates to recipe ingredients and potential allergens.
- Dialing-in and tasting espresso and coffees to ensure product quality
- Assisting with the training of current staff on in-café routines and barista skills, as directed by café manager; assisting new staff during their orientation and training period
- General cleaning duties

Qualifications

- 2 years of experience in a hospitality / service environment
- 1 year of experience in a specialty coffee focused position and experience preparing specialty espresso-based beverages
- Excellent customer service skills




- Knowledge of coffee flavour notes and the ability to demonstrate a good palate
- Working knowledge of POS systems
- Experience providing staff training is an asset
- VERY passionate about coffee
- Knowledge of specialty coffee, coffee trends and café operations
- Attention to detail, able to present digestible information effectively
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively to achieve results
- Interest and desire to work in the specialty coffee industry
- Ability to build strong internal working relationships and be an effective communicator
- Have a “no job is too small” mentality: you roll up your sleeves, boldly jump in and get it done!
- Have ability to see a project through from beginning to end while demonstrating the ability to both multi-task effectively and prioritize tasks
- Be results-oriented and process driven, with high expectations of self and team
- Positive outlook, and be able to effectively receive and communicate feedback
