As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will guide Kubernetes platform strategy across cluster lifecycle, node management, and shared components. You will automate operations through Terraform, Spacelift, and self-service workflows while supporting reliable workloads. The work spans AWS architecture, observability, policy enforcement, and technical leadership across teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and evolve Affirm’s EKS platform strategy
- Lead standardized provisioning, upgrades, teardown, and self-service workflows
- Own reliability for shared Kubernetes components and delivery pipelines
- Enforce workload safety standards and automated policy defaults
- Mentor engineers and participate in production incident response
Requirements:
- 10+ years in software or infrastructure engineering
- 6+ years operating production Kubernetes at scale
- Deep EKS, Kubernetes, AWS, and autoscaling expertise
- Terraform, GitOps, and policy enforcement experience
- Expert proficiency in Go or Python
