About the Role

Our client, an innovative architectural and engineering firm focused on sustainable building design, is seeking a talented Remote MEP Design Engineer to join their virtual team. This role is ideal for a professional passionate about green building practices and energy efficiency. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and coordinating Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems for a variety of sustainable construction projects globally. The position requires a strong understanding of HVAC, electrical distribution, lighting, and water systems, along with expertise in energy modeling and performance analysis. Working remotely, you will collaborate with a diverse international team of architects, engineers, and sustainability consultants. Key Responsibilities

- Design and engineer integrated MEP systems for commercial, residential, and institutional buildings.
- Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system simulations to optimize performance.
- Develop detailed MEP drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules using relevant software.
- Coordinate MEP designs with architectural, structural, and other engineering disciplines.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, energy standards (e.g., SANS, ASHRAE), and sustainability certifications (e.g., Green Star, LEED).
- Collaborate effectively with remote project teams, clients,



and contractors through virtual platforms.
- Conduct technical reviews and site assessments (where feasible remotely or via local representation).
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting during project execution.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and sustainable design strategies in MEP engineering.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
- Professional registration (e.g., Pr.Eng) or eligibility for registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in MEP design engineering, with a strong focus on sustainable building projects.
- Proficiency in MEP design and modeling software (e.g., Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, IES VE, or similar).
- Strong understanding of energy efficiency principles, renewable energy integration, and green building practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working in a remote team environment.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience with South African building codes and sustainability standards.
