Apply AI tools and Python to build physics-based natural hazard models at Skynet Software, Chelsea Avondale’s engineering division. Evaluate severe risks scientifically.
As a Research Scientist, you will work with scientists and engineers across modelling and research backgrounds. You will build wildfire, flood, and windstorm models, run high-performance computing systems, and assess results. The work spans data analysis, validation, geospatial datasets, and scientific code.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and compose physics-based severe natural hazard models
- Run models on high-performance computing systems
- Develop, calibrate, and validate scientific models
- Write maintainable Python code using AI coding tools
- Assess outputs across time and space with GIS tools
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related discipline
- Practical experience building complex projects with AI tools
- Experience writing high-performance scientific Python code
- Knowledge of modelling, differential equations, optimization, and uncertainty quantification
- Experience with geospatial data, remote sensing, and GIS tools
Bring AI-assisted modelling, Python development, and scientific judgment to natural hazard research at Skynet Software.
