About the Role

Our client, a significant player in the mining industry, is seeking a specialized Project Manager to lead the implementation of advanced technology solutions across their operations in the Kimberley, Northern Cape region. This hybrid role requires a professional adept at managing projects involving automation, data analytics, IoT, and other cutting-edge technologies within the demanding mining environment. You will be responsible for overseeing the integration of these solutions, ensuring seamless deployment, user adoption, and realization of technological benefits. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent project management skills, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships in a hybrid work setting.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the planning, execution, and deployment of mining technology projects, from concept to completion.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic mining objectives.
- Manage cross-functional teams, including engineers, IT specialists, site personnel, and external vendors.
- Oversee the implementation of automation, data analytics, IoT, and other advanced technological solutions in a mining context.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and operational standards specific to the mining industry.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Monitor project progress, performance, and budget, providing regular status reports to senior management.




- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all project stakeholders, including operations, engineering, and executive leadership.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure successful integration of procured technologies.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mining, Electrical, Mechanical, IT), Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with a significant portion focused on technology implementation in the mining or heavy industrial sectors.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex technology projects in challenging environments.
- Strong understanding of mining operations and the application of technology within the industry.
- Experience with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Jira).
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing office-based tasks with site visits and remote collaboration.
- Knowledge of mining-specific software and systems is a plus.
