Apply transcriptomic analysis and neural stem cell biology as a full-time Research Associate at UBC’s Michael Smith Laboratories in Vancouver. Study brain repair using single cell multiomics and spatial transcriptomics.
This term Research Associate position works under Dr. Freda Miller in the Faculty of Science. You will investigate neural stem cells and microglia in murine brain repair models. The work combines molecular cellular biology, neuroscience, genetic mouse models, and single cell spatial transcriptomics. The initial appointment is one year, beginning January 2, 2027, with possible extension subject to performance and funding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze murine brain repair models using single cell multiomics
- Apply spatial transcriptomics to investigate brain repair
- Define cellular mechanisms underlying limited mammalian brain repair
- Characterize neural stem cell and microglia responses
- Work with researchers in the Miller laboratory
Requirements:
- PhD in biology, molecular biology, or related biomedical sciences
- Experience in molecular cellular biology and neuroscience
- Postdoctoral experience with single cell spatial transcriptomics
- Experience using genetic mouse models in brain repair
- Effective English communication and team-oriented teamwork
Bring neuroscience, spatial transcriptomics, and mouse model expertise to research cellular mechanisms of brain repair at UBC.
