Lead strategic fire protection services for the City of St. Thomas, applying emergency management and operational leadership expertise. The role supports municipal safety and resilience.

The Fire Chief serves as statutory head of the Fire Department and member of the Corporate Senior Leadership Team. This position oversees fire suppression, prevention, communications, training, public education, and emergency management. It also provides technical support to neighbouring municipalities through Mutual Aid Agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead Fire Department operations, service planning, and community risk assessment
- Develop policies, procedures, standards, plans, and mutual aid agreements
- Direct emergency responses, hazard mitigation, and incident support
- Manage budgets, resources, apparatus, equipment,



and facilities
- Advise Council, stakeholders, and partners on fire service matters

Requirements:

- Accredited degree in fire protection, emergency management, or related program
- Ontario Fire College Company Officers Diploma or equivalent
- Emergency Management Certification and Certified Fire Investigator experience
- Certified Incident Commander experience and Ontario Fire Service Standard
- Minimum ten years managerial experience in fire service administration
