TEMPORARY CHILD AND YOUTH CARE WORKER Walker Development Centre The successful applicant will work with/under the direction of the school Principal in dealing with behavioral, social and emotional concerns and provide support to children who need additional support.
The successful applicant, under direction, will also make referrals to outside agencies as needed, and will be expected to work closely with the school Principal and the School Based and Integrated Case Management teams. This excluded staffposition will be 7.0 hours per day, 4 days per week, effective November 5, 2026,until June 29, 2026 or return of incumbent, whichever occurs first and while students are in school.
The rate of pay for this position is $31.39 per hour. Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in child and Youth Care or Social Work or the equivalent combination of training and recent related experience; Two years of current related work experience; Mental Health Act, Child, Family and Community Services Act (Child Protection), and Young Offenders Act,



etc.; Demonstrated knowledge of current community and agency resources; Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain respectful relationships with children, youth and adults; Valid BC Class 5 driver's license. Assisting in the implementation of program objectives; Working with students with exceptional social, emotional and behaviour challenges; Providing reports to the Principal regarding program activities, children’s progress and challenges; may include shared responsibility for supporting outdoor pursuits, cultural trips, etc.; Please also note that in accordance with the Criminal Records Review Act, selected candidates not currently employed by School District No. 51 (Boundary) must pay a $28 fee and sign a release to permit a criminal record review. Employment with the District is subject to passing this criminal record review.
