Advise on complex M&A; and corporate matters as Principal Counsel with BHP’s Legal team in downtown Toronto. Work hybrid, including three office days weekly.
This position supports BHP’s Corporate & Exploration Legal team across global transaction activity. You will advise on company law, mergers, acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures, and other transactions. The role involves collaboration with BHP’s M&A; team, global legal colleagues, stakeholders, and external counsel.
Key Responsibilities: Provide high-impact legal advice on complex corporate matters
Advise on strategic mergers, acquisitions, and divestments
Support joint ventures and other corporate transactions
Instruct external counsel on legal matters
Build relationships across BHP and beyond Canada
Requirements: Seven to nine years of private practice or in-house experience
M&A; and corporate experience from a top law firm or corporation
Resources sector experience preferred
Ability to accommodate colleagues across different time zones
Willingness to travel periodically and take initiative
Bring corporate, company law, and M&A; experience to BHP’s international legal work from Toronto’s hybrid office.
