Provide psychiatric on-call coverage at Stratford General Hospital, using inpatient assessment and consultation skills. Support a dedicated adult unit with clinical supervision.
This Psychiatry Resident assignment serves the 15-bed inpatient psychiatric unit within Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance. The resident sees admitted patients, consults other services, and communicates with emergency medicine physicians, crisis teams, and family physicians. Pre-screened, one-time outpatient consultations may occasionally be requested for non-urgent cases.
Key Responsibilities: Provide on-call coverage to the inpatient psychiatric unit
Assess patients admitted to the adult inpatient unit
Provide psychiatric consultation to other hospital services




Consult by phone with physicians and crisis teams
Offer occasional non-urgent outpatient consultations
Requirements: PGY3 or higher training level
Interest in community medicine
Practice within accepted Psychiatry Department guidelines
Use evidence-based mental health inpatient care protocols
Participate in scheduled supervision and feedback
Apply Psychiatry training, inpatient assessment, and consultation skills while serving Stratford General Hospital under structured supervision.
