Perform specimen collection and laboratory testing as a Medical Laboratory Assistant with Island Health in Victoria, British Columbia. Work mornings from 0730 to 1215.
Reporting to a Team Leader, Chief Technologist, or designate, you will perform laboratory procedures and related clerical duties. The role supports the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics through blood collection, sample preparation, urinalysis, and ECG testing where required. This temporary part time position is based at Admirals Walk Lab.
Key Responsibilities: Collect blood and other specimens from patients
Prepare samples for laboratory analysis
Distribute and store specimens appropriately
Perform urinalysis using colour-coded dipsticks
Conduct Electro Cardiogram testing where required
Requirements: Grade 12 education
Recognized Laboratory Assistant training program completion
One year of recent related experience
Valid BC Class 5 Vehicle Licence
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Bring specimen collection, sample preparation, laboratory testing, and communication skills to Island Health’s Victoria laboratory team.
