Description
About the Clients: We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for an 86-year-old father and 74-year-old mother living independently in their apartment in Etobicoke. Dad is on home dialysis with daily nursing visits for hookup/disconnection (morning and 8 PM), uses a walker, has limited mobility, and is unstable on his feet. He requires substantial daily assistance. Mom is more mobile but has days where she needs to rest and cannot manage caregiving duties alone. Both parents have experience with PSWs but need more consistent, reliable support.
Responsibilities:
Assist with personal care including bathing, dressing, and toileting
Support mobility and transfers using walker/wheelchair
Prepare meals and assist with feeding as needed
Complete light housekeeping, laundry, and tidying
Transport to medical appointments and errands using their vehicle
Support both parents' needs flexibly throughout each visit
Maintain a clean, hygienic living workplace
What We're Looking For:
Experience with mobility assistance (walker/wheelchair)
Comfortable providing personal care and bathing support
Valid driver's license and reliable driving record
Ability to care for multiple clients simultaneously
Strong initiative and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication with family members
Patient, calm demeanor with positive energy
Reliable and punctual
This family has had inconsistent care experiences and values a caregiver who makes their parents comfortable, takes initiative, and communicates clearly. They need someone who respects their parents' independence while providing necessary support.
Schedule:
Starting with 5 days per week (Monday-Friday), 2 hours per visit, between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM. The dialysis nurse handles morning setup around 10 AM, so caregiving begins after parents are up and moving. Evening dialysis hookup occurs at 8 PM, so no care needed after that time. Schedule consistency is important, though occasional flexibility for appointments is needed. Potential to expand to 7 days per week based on family needs.

Additional Considerations
Father is 86 and on home dialysis with daily nurse visits for hookup. Uses walker, very weak and unstable. Mother is 74, more mobile but has days where she needs to rest and cannot manage caregiving duties. Both parents need support but father requires significantly more assistance. Apartment setting. Parents have their own car but should not be driving. Looking for consistent, reliable caregiver who shows up on time and takes initiative. Previous PSW experiences have been inconsistent. Dialysis nurse comes in morning, so caregiver schedule should work around this. Father typically hooked back up to dialysis around 8 PM.
