Prepare for emergency medicine practice at Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound, supported by on-site or phone physician backup.
This chance is designed for PGY4/5 FRCPC Emergency Medicine residents transitioning to practice. Work at the Owen Sound hospital, a Level 2 regional referral centre and Brightshores’ largest site. The emergency department records approximately 33,000 annual visits, with double coverage shifts, 24-hour laboratories, specialty backup, and comprehensive diagnostic imaging.
Key Responsibilities: Provide emergency department care at Owen Sound hospital
Manage patients with a staff emergency physician as MRP
Work with double coverage shifts
Access specialty backup and diagnostic imaging
Coordinate care with regional facilities and services
Requirements: Currently enrolled in a PGY4/5 FRCPC Emergency Medicine program
Current ACLS certification
Current ATLS certification
Current PALS certification
Emergency medicine training preparing for transition to practice
Develop independent emergency medicine practice with Brightshores Health System, regional resources, physician supervision, and comprehensive hospital support.
