Job Description As the People Systems Analyst – Data & Reporting, you will be the Workday-focused data and reporting expert who helps this major retail company make People data trusted, understandable, and actionable.

Working closely with People Systems, People Analytics, Technology, and People Data Stewards, you will help identify critical data modules, document business rules, investigate quality issues, support reconciliation and observability routines, and deliver reliable Workday-native reporting that enables day-to-day decision-making, compliance monitoring, self-service insights, automation, and digital transformation. •Partnering with People Systems and functional teams to understand how process design, configuration changes, integrations, effective dating, corrections, rescinds, and retroactive transactions impact downstream People data. •Profiling, validating, reconciling, and troubleshooting Workday data across extracts, reports, dashboards, data lake tables, and operational outputs to identify gaps, inconsistencies, duplicates, outliers, and root causes. •Supporting data observability routines by monitoring freshness, completeness, volume, schema changes, reference data changes, lineage signals, and recurring data quality patterns for priority People data assets. •Documenting Workday field definitions, business rules, transformation logic, module ownership, data mappings, known limitations, and issue resolution steps in a clear and reusable way. •Working with People Data Stewards to identify and document critical data elements across Workday modules such as worker, position, organization, job profile, compensation, absence, talent, performance, learning, recruiting, and workforce management data. •Helping build and maintain the People business glossary and data catalogue by capturing plain-language definitions, system sources, owners, classifications, lineage, downstream reports, and approved usage guidance. •Performing impact analysis for Workday configuration changes, process changes, new modules, integrations, data fixes,
and transformation initiatives to understand downstream reporting, analytics, data lake, and governance implications. •Providing data operational support by triaging issues, maintaining issue logs, documenting root causes, validating fixes, coordinating remediation, and helping ensure recurring data processes run reliably. •Supporting implementation of data standards, naming conventions, quality rules, validation routines, documentation practices, privacy classifications, and stewardship workflows for People system data. •Building, maintaining, and enhancing Workday custom reports, dashboards, worklets, prompts, filters, calculated fields, report schedules, report groups, and report delivery options that support operational and system reporting needs. •Designing Workday reporting views and operational dashboards that help People teams monitor workforce activity, transactions, exceptions, process outcomes, compliance items, and recurring People Operations routines directly in Workday. •Developing notification-enabled reporting solutions, event-based alerts, scheduled outputs, and business process reporting that help users act on system events, criteria changes, exceptions, and completion signals. •Troubleshooting report access, prompts, filters, output formats, row counts, security constraints, performance issues, run history, scheduled processes, and user questions in partnership with People Systems and functional subject matter experts.
Skills and Requirements • You have 3+ years of experience in HR systems, people data, Workday and other HR system reporting, HR operations, data governance, or a similar data-focused role. • You have hands-on experience with Workday data, reports, business processes, effective dating, organizations, positions, workers, job profiles, compensation, absence, or related People modules. • You have hands-on experience building or supporting Workday custom reports, dashboards, worklets, prompts, filters,
calculated fields, scheduled report delivery, and operational reporting processes. • You are curious about how system transactions become data and can connect process steps, system configuration, integrations, reporting logic, and downstream data impacts. • You bring strong analytical skills, including data profiling, validation, reconciliation, root-cause analysis, issue investigation, impact assessment, and structured documentation. • You can translate between business process language, system transformation logic, data definitions, reporting requirements, data quality rules, and analytics needs. • You are comfortable creating documentation such as data dictionaries, business glossaries, source-to-report mappings, issue logs, validation checklists, process notes, and decision records. • You understand, or are excited to learn, data governance concepts such as critical data elements, data stewardship, data ownership, data catalogues, quality rules, lineage, classification, access, privacy, retention, and responsible use. • You are detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable turning ambiguity into structure while supporting operational needs and longer-term transformation work. • You build trust across stakeholders by asking good questions, documenting clearly, following through on issues, and balancing curiosity with strong judgment around sensitive People data.
