Design PLC-controlled winches and hoists through advanced calculations, hydraulic interfaces, and technical drawings for engineered equipment.
As a Controls Designer, you will create specialized designs for heavy-lifting equipment in a manufacturing workplace. Your work includes component selection, PLC programming, variable frequency drives, and electro-hydraulic controls. You will support projects from concept through manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and customer training.
Key Responsibilities: Calculate requirements for engineered winches and hoists
Create concept, design, and production drawings
Program PLCs using Ladder Logic, Function Blocks, and Structural Text
Interface control systems with closed-loop and open-loop hydraulics
Witness manufacturing and testing of designed equipment
Requirements: Post-secondary education in Engineering
Previous capital equipment design experience
Experience selecting and troubleshooting PLC products
Ability to interpret mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics
Experience with C programming or Visual Basic is beneficial
Apply engineering principles, PLC programming, and hydraulic controls expertise to design complex heavy-lifting equipment.
