About the prospect
We are seeking an experienced, relationship-driven sales professional to grow sponsorship revenue and develop corporate partnerships across its programs, events and initiatives.
This contract role is suited to someone who enjoys opening doors, understanding a prospective partner’s business objectives and turning those conversations into compelling proposals and signed agreements. - Develop and execute a sponsorship sales plan with agreed revenue targets and priorities.
- Identify, research and approach prospective sponsors whose objectives align with our audience and offerings.
- Develop and sell partnerships across our annual conference, awards, Chapters, our designation, professional development, research, podcast and digital platforms, including customized year-round partnerships.
- Prepare tailored proposals and presentations that clearly communicate the value of partnering with us.
- Negotiate terms and close agreements within approved pricing and parameters.
- Maintain an active pipeline, follow up consistently and provide accurate sales forecasts.
Sponsor relationships and retention
- Build and maintain relationships with new and existing sponsors.
- Understand each sponsor’s objectives and recommend relevant partnership opportunities.
- Work with the team to document commitments, coordinate handoffs and ensure sponsor benefits are delivered.
- Lead renewal conversations and identify opportunities to expand successful partnerships.
- Gather sponsor feedback to strengthen future offerings.
Collaboration and reporting
- Ensure proposals and agreements reflect approved benefits, delivery capacity and our requirements for educational independence. Obtain approval for pricing exceptions, exclusivity and non-standard commitments.
- Collaborate with colleagues responsible for events, programs, marketing and partnerships to develop attractive, deliverable sponsorship packages.
- Maintain accurate records of prospects, contacts, proposals, agreements and next steps in our CRM.
- Report regularly on pipeline activity, closed sales, forecast revenue and progress against targets.
- Recommend improvements to sponsorship packages, pricing and the sales process.
What you bring
- Demonstrated success selling sponsorships, corporate partnerships, events or other business-to-business services.
- A track record of independently prospecting, negotiating and closing revenue-generating agreements.
- Strong relationship-building, presentation and proposal-writing skills.
- A consultative sales approach and the ability to connect a partner’s objectives with a relevant offering.
- Strong organization, follow-through and CRM discipline.
- The ability to manage a sales pipeline independently within a part-time schedule.
- Experience with a professional association, conference business or membership organization is an asset.
- Familiarity with governance, boards, legal, financial or professional services markets is an asset.
What success looks like
- Achievement of agreed sponsorship revenue targets.
- A qualified pipeline that supports upcoming events and longer-term revenue opportunities.
- Strong sponsor renewal and repeat business.
