Make a difference in your community this winter.

Encompass is hiring a reliable, experienced snowplow driver to support our residential snow-clearing service and the broader work of Connections for Seniors.

This position combines snowplowing with food-delivery support, general maintenance and other duties at the charity. When snow-clearing work is not required, you will be assigned other work to fulfil your minimum weekly hours.

Responsibilities

- Operate our company-owned Nissan Titan plow truck to clear residential driveways.
- Work alongside a snowblowing and shovelling crew member to maintain secure access to clients’ homes.
- Follow assigned routes, reporting times and property-specific instructions.
- Assist with snowblowing, shovelling and salting as needed.
- Complete vehicle and equipment checks and report defects, damage or safety concerns.
- Assist with preparing, loading and delivering orders for our food-delivery program.
- Carry out general property maintenance, upkeep and other assigned duties.
- Communicate respectfully with clients, staff and volunteers.

Hours and availability

- A guaranteed minimum of 20 paid hours per week at $25/hour.
- Weekly hours will include a combination of snow clearing and other assigned duties.
- Additional hours may be required during snow events.
- Availability for early mornings, evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays is required for snow-clearing operations.
- Non-snow duties will be scheduled by management.

Dependability and punctuality are essential. You must report at scheduled start times,

remain reachable during agreed on-call periods and meet established call-out response requirements. Snow-clearing schedules are set by management according to weather and client needs.

Qualifications

- Previous experience operating a pickup-mounted snowplow.
- A valid driver’s licence appropriate for the assigned vehicle and a clear driver’s abstract, subject to insurer approval.
- Confidence driving and manoeuvring in winter conditions and tight residential spaces.
- Ability to safely perform snow-clearing, delivery and general maintenance duties.
- A respectful, patient approach when working around seniors.
- Reliable transportation to the reporting location and access to a cellphone.
- Willingness to complete required background screening and paid orientation.

What we provide

- A minimum weekly income of $500 gross, with additional earnings when more hours are worked.
- Company vehicles and equipment for assigned duties.
- Paid orientation and route familiarization.
- Varied, meaningful work supporting seniors and community services.
