MINT FLOOR COVERINGS
Calgary
Operations Manager
Calgary and surrounding area | Full-time
Reports to Ownership / Senior Management
Role purpose
Lead Mint Floor Coverings' day-to-day operations by building strong relationships with staff,
customers, and senior management, leading the team, and supporting daily field operations. Bring
practical construction field management experience, earn trust, and set clear expectations in the
office and on site.
Key responsibilities
- Build relationships and lead the team. Build trust with staff, understand their challenges, coach
employees, and hold the team accountable for performance and professional conduct.
- Connect office and field operations. Work with field supervisors and installation teams on
priorities, scheduling, and clear communication between the office, warehouse, and job sites.
- Apply construction management experience. Help assess site readiness, coordinate with
builder site supervisors and trades, and resolve challenges before they cause delays or rework.
- Build customer relationships and support service. Develop trust with customers and builders
through clear communication and follow-up. Work with field specialists to resolve quality concerns,
deficiencies, and warranty issues.
- Manage estimating and review margins. Lead the estimating department, set priorities, and
support accurate, timely estimates. Help review pricing, costs, and margins on jobs and tenders
with estimators and senior management.
- Keep operations consistent. Reinforce company policies, improve workflows, and reduce
avoidable callbacks, delays, and material waste.
- Build relationships with senior management. Earn trust and communicate priorities and
concerns.
Work with ownership and the Design Manager through installation and service; the
Design Manager retains responsibility for design programs and product selections.
Experience and qualities
- Proven ability to build relationships with staff, customers, and senior management; lead and coach
a team; and hold people accountable.
- Experience managing or supervising construction field operations, including coordinating crews,
trades, schedules, and site readiness.
- Flooring knowledge or experience is an asset, not a requirement. Hands-on installation experience
is not required.
- Strong numerical skills and confidence reviewing estimates, job costs, pricing, and margins on jobs
and tenders.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency across Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Outlook,
Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Experience with different AI platforms, and the ability to help Mint expand its use of these tools to
improve workflows and business capabilities, would be a major asset.
- Clear communication, sound judgment, and practical problem-solving skills. Comfortable working in
the office and visiting job sites; valid driver's licence.
Success in this role
A supported, accountable team; trusted customer and management relationships; accurate estimates
and informed margin reviews; and well-coordinated installations with fewer preventable issues. As
trust and business knowledge grow, the role can develop into a trusted second-in-command to
ownership.
