Accounting Manager

Our client is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead the day-to-day finance function during a period of department transformation. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance & Operations, this role will oversee a small finance team while ensuring timely financial reporting, audit completion, solid internal controls, and continuity across the finance function. Your success will be defined by your ability to:

- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare and review financial statements, supporting schedules, account reconciliations, journal entries, and working papers.
- Coordinate and manage the external audit process while addressing auditor inquiries and implementing recommendations.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of 3 individuals.
- Strengthen internal controls, improve finance processes, and establish documented procedures, backup coverage, and continuity plans.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and Board reporting by reviewing financial plans, variance analysis, and budget assumptions.
- Lead finance participation in the ongoing ERP implementation, including process optimization, reporting improvements, testing, and issue resolution.
- Manage accounting for grants, donations,



endowments, and restricted funds while ensuring compliance with funding requirements.

Your strengths include:

- CPA designation is required.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong exposure to financial reporting, audit, internal controls, and operational accounting. Experience in a non-profit environment is a desired asset.
- Proven experience leading and developing finance staff while remaining hands-on in day-to-day accounting activities.
- Experience coordinating external audits and managing auditor relationships.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
