Use hematology and chemistry expertise as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at West Coast General Hospital, with rotating days off in Port Alberni.

This Laboratory Technologist I position performs established core laboratory procedures within Island Health’s Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics. The regular full time schedule includes shifts from 06:30-14:30 through 23:00-07:00. Success requires current testing knowledge, independent prioritization, and effective interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform established core laboratory procedures
- Apply hematology testing techniques and methods
- Perform chemistry laboratory testing
- Complete transfusion medicine procedures




- Prioritize and complete assigned laboratory work

Requirements:

- Recognized Medical Laboratory Technology diploma graduation
- Relevant CAMLPR pathway registration or CSMLS certification
- Recent core laboratory courses or qualifying related experience
- Critical thinking, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
