Actuator characterization and control-loop tuning define this Senior Engineer role at Humanoid. Work on HMND‑01 as hardware moves toward controllable, measurable integration.
You will develop subsystem characterization methods and identify torque, friction, inertia, backlash, stiffness, thermal, and efficiency parameters. The position covers calibration, parameter identification, modeling, mathematical optimization, and closed-loop actuator evaluation. You will partner with controls and firmware teams while supporting hardware maturity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Characterize actuators, mechanisms, grippers, and integrated robotic assemblies
- Tune encoder sensors and driver control loops for stability
- Model torque, friction, inertia, backlash, stiffness, and thermal behavior
- Conduct lifecycle, stress, thermal,
and environmental component testing
- Maintain protocols, reports, documentation, and results databases
Requirements:
- Master’s or PhD in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or robotics
- 5+ years with actuator characterization, robotic hardware, controls, or commissioning
- Experience in calibration, parameter identification, modeling, and optimization
- Python, MATLAB, or C++ experience for analysis and model fitting
- Familiarity with DAQ systems and LabVIEW, Python, or MATLAB
Use characterization, calibration, and model-fitting skills to improve actuator behavior across Humanoid’s robotic hardware.
