The cook prepares, completes and serves daily nutritious meals and snacks for the residents of the home, taking into consideration allergies and preferences. Required to encourage independence of the residents by having them assist with preparation, cooking/baking and clean up duties. Always following the framework of Carefor’s policies, procedures, standards and quality & risk management. Ensure maximum participation of residents in meals/snacks, while keeping their safety as a priority Follow infection control practices Keep kitchen clean, spill free and put all groceries away. Providing personal care as directed by nurse or per client care plan; assistance in walking,



climbing or descending stairs, eating, dressing, toileting and personal hygiene Monitoring and maintaining resident and household safety; Recognizing the social and emotional needs of client and dealing with them effectively; Light housekeeping/cleaning Help create and maintain a peaceful,’ normalized,’ home-like environment for guests Encouraging and promoting resident independence (Organizational Resp.) Treating residents with dignity and respect (Organizational Resp.) Food Handler Certificate Minimum of 3 year(s) experience in food service, preferably within the health care sector.
