Rockyview General Hospital has an excellent opportunity for someone who wants a truly active job in a hospital setting. Portering is physically demanding -staff regularly walk 20–30,000+ steps per shift, maneuver equipment with patients weighing up to 400 lbs. This position requires mental focus, physical fitness, consistent energy, and endurance for the full shift. Duties also include safe and timely transport of patient, equipment, morgue cases, blood product, and laboratory specimen transports. Porters must prioritize multiple requests in a quick-paced environment and quickly learn to navigate the site layout to ensure timely service.
Strong customer service and communication skills are essential, as Porters interact daily with patients, families, and healthcare staff and must do so respectfully and professionally. Comfort with a smartphone-based dispatch system is required to accept assignments, verify patient identity, update progress, and close tasks.
Personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, gowns, and eye protection) must be worn for long periods while working safely and following protocols.
We are hiring relief Service Worker (no guarantee of shifts). Schedules may include a combination of day, evening, night, and weekend shifts. Flexibility is the key – we ask for availability of a minimum of four shifts per week. As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required. Classification:

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
