About the Role

Our client, a growing industrial company, is looking for an enthusiastic Junior Legal Counsel to join their legal department based in Kimberley, Northern Cape. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or junior lawyer to gain hands-on experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts. The position utilizes a Hybrid working model, enabling a blend of essential office-based collaboration in Kimberley and the flexibility of remote work. You will work closely with senior legal staff and business stakeholders, contributing to the company's commercial success. This role is based in Kimberley, Northern Cape.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, service agreements, and NDAs.
- Conduct legal research on various commercial law issues.
- Support the legal team in managing contract lifecycle processes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant legislation.
- Assist with corporate governance tasks and record-keeping.
- Liaise with internal departments to understand their contractual needs.
- Review marketing materials and external communications for legal compliance.
- Participate in internal investigations and dispute resolution processes under supervision.
- Maintain and organize legal documentation and contract repositories.




- Contribute to the development of standard contract templates and legal process improvements.

Requirements

- An LLB degree or equivalent qualification.
- Admission as an Attorney or Advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
- 0-3 years of post-qualification experience in corporate or commercial law.
- Demonstrated interest or foundational knowledge in contract law.
- Robust analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in legal research and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn and develop legal skills.
- Good organizational and time-management abilities.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Kimberley, Northern Cape.
