About the Role

Our client, a key player in the global mining industry , is seeking an exceptional Principal Exploration Geologist to lead their exploration initiatives from Kimberley, Northern Cape . This senior role is critical for identifying and evaluating new mineral deposit opportunities, driving exploration strategy, and managing exploration projects from grassroots to advanced stages. The Principal Exploration Geologist will leverage their extensive experience in diverse geological settings and advanced exploration techniques to spearhead the discovery of valuable mineral resources. This is a significant opportunity to influence the future exploration pipeline of a leading mining company.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement innovative exploration strategies and programs for various commodities. Manage all phases of exploration projects, including target generation, field work, data acquisition, and interpretation. Oversee and interpret geological mapping, geochemical sampling, and geophysical surveys. Manage drilling programs, including planning, supervision, and core logging. Lead the geological modeling and preliminary resource estimation for current discoveries. Conduct technical reviews of exploration data and project assessments. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all exploration activities. Mentor and guide junior exploration geologists and field teams. Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations,



and budgets for exploration projects. Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Requirements

Master's degree or PhD in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline. A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, with a significant focus on mining and resource discovery. Demonstrated success in discovering economic mineral deposits. Extensive experience with various exploration techniques and technologies. Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, ArcGIS, ioGAS) and GIS. Strong understanding of structural geology, metallogeny, and deposit modeling. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in remote and challenging field environments. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively.
