We invest for the long term and back operators who think like owners. The Opportunity We’re looking for an experienced Controller to join one of our Vancouver hotels. Longevity is important in a friendly environment. One would be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the hotel organization in financial reporting and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires a background in accounting and finance, with proficiency in various accounting software. The Controller will play a crucial role in financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day activities of the Accounting Department
- Providing accounting staff with the proper resources, training, and authority required to carry out their responsibilities
- Providing financial guidance to management
- Overseeing the hotel and restaurant accounting functions
- Ensuring necessary internal controls to safeguard the company's assets
- Calculating commission for travel agents or agencies
- Tracking and managing expense claims




- Managing daily cash reports
- Overseeing union payroll and labour compliance
- Balancing and processing semi-monthly payroll journal entries for unionized and non-union staff
- Proficiency with Accpac Sage 300 preferred
- Reviewing Accounts Receivable reconciliations
- Reviewing Accounts Payable reconciliations
- Preparing and reporting monthly financial statements
- Preparing annual budgets
- Preparing reports and assisting in annual audit preparation
- Bank and G/L account reconciliation
- Other duties and tasks in Accounting as assigned What We’re Looking For
- CPA designation required or equivalent; position is in office
- Proven experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting role
- Exposure to the hospitality sector is an asset — solid technical fundamentals and intellectual curiosity matter more
- Clear communicator who can present financial information to non-financial stakeholders and assist team members with understanding their performance metrics
