Sessional Instructional Assistant, MMI1090H Technology, Strategy and Policy, 2027 (Jan - April)
MMI1090 Technology, Strategy and Policy
Technology is transforming every sector of society, from how we grow and distribute food to how we deliver healthcare, design wellness solutions, and navigate daily life. Yet innovation does not succeed on technology alone; it succeeds when leaders understand the systems, policies, incentives, human behaviors, and legitimacy conditions that shape how technologies are developed, governed, adopted, and scaled.
This course examines technological disruption through the lens of innovation strategy, legitimacy, and systems thinking. Using real-world cases from the food, health, wellness, and consumer technology sectors, we explore how emerging technologies create (and sometimes destroy) value, how they reshape markets, how they challenge existing regulatory frameworks, and how they generate ethical, political, and societal tensions.
