To join a well-established electrical distributor with decades of industry experience
- Full-Time
About the opportunity
About the Company
Our client is a well-established electrical distributor with decades of industry experience. They pair deep inventory and strong supplier relationships with the service and responsiveness of a local business.
The culture is family-oriented and collaborative. Leadership is accessible, ideas are heard, and people are trusted to run their part of the business.
The Opportunity
This is a hybrid project management, quoting and project sales role for the Saskatoon branch, focused on Northern Saskatchewan. Customers here expect a local person they can work with directly, and this role is that person for the project business.
The branch has strong existing project work and no dedicated quotation specialist. Your first priority is supporting that work and building a local backlog by reviewing drawings, preparing quotes and winning projects. Once secured, projects hand off to the coordination and project management team. As you settle in, the focus shifts toward growing new business and customer relationships.
You'll report to the Regional Manager, who is based in Regina and will support you with coaching, training and joint customer calls. You'll also work alongside the branch's two outside sales representatives. If you're strong on the project side and want to grow your sales skills, this role is built for you.
What You'll Do
- Review electrical drawings and single-line diagrams, complete takeoffs, and build accurate quotes and bills of material for lighting, distribution, controls and related products
- Support the branch's existing project work and help clear the current quoting backlog
- Win project opportunities, then hand secured work to the coordination and project management team
- Build relationships with electrical contractors, engineers and specifiers across Northern Saskatchewan
- Run a consistent follow-up program on open quotes and project opportunities
- Develop new project business, including joint customer calls with the Regional Manager
- Work with purchasing and vendor partners on project pricing and strategy
- Partner with the branch's outside sales representatives and branch leadership
- Keep opportunities and customer activity up to date in the CRM
What You Bring
- Several years of experience in project quoting, estimating, project coordination or project management, ideally with an electrical distributor, manufacturer or contractor
- The ability to read electrical drawings and single-line diagrams and complete accurate takeoffs
- Knowledge of lighting, controls or electrical distribution is a solid asset
- Experience in a similar role in HVAC or plumbing will also be considered, as will lighting or controls backgrounds that involve drawings, takeoffs and project quotes
- Sales experience is a plus but not required. Strong project coordinators ready to take the next step will be considered
- A self-starter who works well independently and pursues opportunities with confidence
- Open to coaching and keen to build your sales skills
- Post-secondary education is an asset
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office and CRM tools
What's In It For You
- $90,000–$110,000 base salary plus commission, with total earnings potential of $130,000–$150,000
- Car allowance and fuel reimbursement
- Benefits you choose to fit you and your family: medical, dental, vision and a health spending account
- RRSP matching
- Company-paid life insurance and employee-paid disability coverage
- Employee Assistance Program, tuition reimbursement and employee discounts
- Direct coaching from an experienced regional leader, and a clear path to grow your career
- A family-oriented, collaborative culture where your ideas are heard.
Why this could be your next move
You've spent years reading drawings, building takeoffs and getting quotes right, and you know how much a project depends on that work. This role puts it front and centre. You'll be the go-to project person for Northern Saskatchewan: winning work, keeping a busy branch moving, and building the relationships that lead to the next project. You'll have an experienced regional leader coaching you on the sales side, and a team that listens to your ideas.
For a project-minded professional ready for more ownership, more earning potential and a real path to grow, this is a conversation worth having.
