Support complex cardiac procedures as a Cardiovascular Perfusionist at UHN’s Toronto General and Toronto Western hospitals. Apply perfusion expertise across variable 24/7 shifts.

This temporary full time position reports to the Perfusion Manager within Surgical Services. You will support cardiopulmonary bypass, myocardial preservation, ventricular assist devices, and additional therapeutic services. UHN’s Perfusion Services supports major operating rooms and cardiac, transplant, organ regeneration, ECLS, and ventricular assist device programs. The work requires theoretical knowledge, technical skill, sound judgment, and effective communication with health team members.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assemble, calibrate, and operate heart-lung machines
- Maintain circulatory support and patient homeostasis during bypass




- Monitor myocardial preservation during cardiopulmonary bypass
- Operate and monitor ventricular assist devices
- Maintain practice quality and safety standards

Requirements:

- Completed BSc degree and Cardiovascular Perfusion diploma
- Certification or eligibility through CSCP or ABCP
- Knowledge of extracorporeal physiology and mechanics
- Excellent judgment, problem recognition, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication during critical perfusion procedures
