Company Description Headquartered in Montreal, Detroit and Munich, Vention helps manufacturers automate their operations in record time with the only hardware and software AI-powered platform built for the factory floor. Our technology powers over 25,000 machines across 4,000 factories across 5 continents and we have the privilege to work with a significant proportion of Fortune 500 manufacturers, from space rockets, to electrical cars, to robotics.
At Vention, you’ll work alongside driven and talented people who care deeply about their craft and the impact they create. We’re a team of high achievers who grow through meaningful work, solving complex challenges, learning fast, and seeing the results of our efforts every day.
We move quickly and aim high, but we do it together with care, collaboration, and respect. Our culture celebrates diverse perspectives and supports your growth through intentional development, strong leadership, and opportunities to make a real difference.
What You’ll Do In this role, you will own the architecture of the simulation platform in Vention’s web-first technology stack. The platform uses MuJoCo as its physics engine. Your focus is how we integrate, scale and extend MuJoCo inside our digital-twin system, which runs on Kubernetes. You will use your expertise in network and distributed system architecture to scale simulation from single cells to large, complex designs. Your work will help our sales, solution engineering and delivery teams confirm project feasibility in simulation early, which reduces risk and saves time on every project. You will also shape how Vention simulation supports physical AI,
where robots are trained and validated in a virtual environment before they run in the real world.
We are looking for someone with a passion for working on complex problems and platform-centric products for a high-growth scale-up, both individually and in a team. Your work will have a high impact. You will empower our users, internal and external, to become more autonomous when designing and validating their machines, and you will significantly impact how we showcase our platform and technology.
Role & Responsibilities:
Use your knowledge of computer science, software engineering, mathematics & algorithms to develop and enhance Vention’s browser-based simulation experience
Own the technical architecture of the simulation platform, including its network, client-server and cloud components
Scale our MuJoCo-based simulation in two directions: large, complex machine designs with many parts, robots and processes, and many simulations that run in parallel
Give the sales, solution engineering and delivery teams a fast way to confirm project feasibility in simulation, to reduce risk and save engineering time before a machine is built
Extend the simulation platform to support physical AI, so that teams can train, test and validate robot AI models before they run on real hardware
Design, document, and implement new capabilities and workflows for the simulation product
Drive continuous improvement of the development and testing practices of the platform, including performance testing and CI/CD pipelines
Accelerate the process of modelling and introducing recent simulatable parts into the platform
Participate in agile activities such as sprint planning, backlog refinement, and code reviews
Set the technical direction for the team, and mentor engineers at all levels in agile software development
Collaborate with stakeholders, including the team lead, tech lead, architects, product manager, UX/UI designer and senior executives
What You Bring to the Table
10-12+ years of software development experience, including technical leadership at the staff, principal or architect level
Strong experience with both the C++ and JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems
Ability to learn new concepts and technologies fast is a must
Strong commitment to automated software testing, including performance testing in CI/CD pipelines, is a must
Experience with linear algebra and good exposure to 3D computer graphics is an asset
Experience with computational geometry and numerical methods
Experience building simulation solutions on top of an existing physics engine. Hands-on experience with MuJoCo is a strong asset
Experience with other robotics simulation tools, such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim, OpenUSD or ROS 2, is an asset
Deep expertise in network and distributed system architecture, such as client-server design, real-time data streaming and cloud compute at scale
Proven experience scaling compute-heavy systems to large, complex and highly parallel workloads, with a strong focus on performance profiling and optimization
Knowledge of physical AI, such a
