About the Opportunity
Not every student learns the same way. We don't believe they should have to.
E2 Academy is a Designated Special Education Independent School serving twice-exceptional (2E) learners. Our students have exceptional strengths alongside disabilities, learning differences, and diverse support needs.
We take a neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, and relationship-based approach to education, prioritizing connection, flexibility, and individualized support.
We're looking for a compassionate, adaptable, and enthusiastic Alberta-certified substitute teacher to join our team.
This casual position offers a combination of prearranged and on-call assignments, with the potential for frequent work. Our small classrooms and collaborative staff provide a supportive environment where educators can build meaningful relationships and make a difference.
What You'll Do
- Deliver classroom instruction using plans provided by the regular teacher.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual student strengths, needs, and abilities.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with students.
- Support students experiencing emotional, sensory, or behavioural dysregulation using calm, compassionate, and proactive approaches.
- Collaborate with classroom staff and student support professionals.
- Follow individualized student support plans and school safety procedures.
- Foster a welcoming environment where students feel safe, respected, and understood.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Valid Alberta teaching certificate.
- Ability to work effectively with neurodivergent students.
- Patience, flexibility, creativity, and strong communication skills.
- A calm, compassionate approach to supporting student regulation and behaviour.
- Willingness to embrace neuroaffirming, trauma-informed educational practices.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check.
Assets:
- Experience working with autistic students, students with ADHD, or twice-exceptional learners.
- Experience in specialized education or inclusive classroom environments.
- Familiarity with Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) or other relationship-based approaches.
- Previous experience in specialized education is an asset, but not required. We welcome educators who are compassionate, adaptable, and eager to make a difference in the lives of neurodivergent learners.
What You Can Expect From Us
- $250 per day.
- Flexible scheduling with the potential for frequent assignments.
- Small class sizes and a collaborative, supportive staff team.
- MANDT training provided by E2 Academy.
- Opportunities to develop skills and experience in specialized education.
