Lead Sign Maker – Traffic Sign Production

Experienced sign makers only. This position requires someone who can independently produce finished signs from approved artwork and work orders. It is not an entry-level or trainee position.

Roadway Traffic Supplies Ltd. manufactures traffic signs and supplies traffic safety products to customers throughout Atlantic Canada and beyond.

We are hiring a hands-on EXPERIENCE Lead Sign Maker to take responsibility for daily sign production, quality control, and shop organization. This role also includes shipping, receiving, and inventory duties.

The role

You will be the primary person responsible for shop production, working directly with the owners. Initially, this is a hands-on production role without an established production crew to supervise.

You must already understand qualified sign-making processes. We will provide orientation to our equipment, products, and procedures; we will not provide foundational sign-making training.

Responsibilities

- Organize daily production from approved work orders, artwork, and delivery priorities.
- Prepare production files using SignLab, Flexi, or comparable sign-making software.
- Operate wide-format printers, vinyl cutters, and laminating equipment.
- Apply reflective sheeting, printed graphics, and cut vinyl to aluminum and other substrates.
- Complete sign finishing, including trimming, rounding corners, and punching holes.
- Verify dimensions, legends, materials, quantities, and finished quality against work orders.
- Identify routine production problems,



perform operator maintenance, and flag issues requiring service.
- Monitor material inventory and communicate purchasing needs before shortages delay production.
- Receive materials, prepare orders, package finished signs, and organize shipments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production area.
- Help document repeatable shop procedures and support future production hires.

Required qualifications

- At least three years of hands-on VERIFIABLE experience in a commercial sign-production environment.
- Demonstrated ability to complete sign-production jobs independently.
- Practical experience with wide-format printing, vinyl cutting, laminating, and graphics application.
- Experience producing rigid signs and applying graphics or sheeting to substrates.
- Ability to use sign-making software and prepare files for production.
- Strong measurement skills, attention to detail, and reliable work habits.
- Willingness to perform both skilled production work and shipping, receiving, and shop duties.

Preferred experience

- Manufacturing reflective traffic signs.
- Working with reflective sheeting and aluminum sign blanks.
- Operating TrafficJet or HP Latex printers and Summa cutters.




- Planning production priorities and checking finished work.

General warehouse experience, graphic design experience alone, or sign-installation experience alone does not meet the production requirements for this position.

Compensation

$24.00 to $29.00 per hour. Final compensation will reflect demonstrated production ability and relevant experience.
