We are looking for a Full-Time Ophthalmic Technician to join our busy, growing ophthalmology practice. We are a close-knit team working alongside physicians who are passionate about what they do, like to teach, and genuinely care about their patients and the people they work with.
Our physicians are leaders in their field who are passionate about ophthalmology and teaching. From diagnostic testing and patient assessments to assisting with procedures and supporting patients through their surgical journey, this is a role where you’ll stay engaged and continue to learn.
We work hard, help each other out and understand that the best patient care happens when everyone is working together.
Our office is conveniently located south of Mount Royal University, away from the downtown core. We offer regular office hours with occasional weekend shifts, underground parking, medical and dental benefits, and a Health Spending Account.
As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will work closely with our physicians and clinical team to provide excellent patient care.
Performing and documenting visual acuities, colour vision, autorefraction, keratometry (automated and manual), manifest refractions and other testing as required

Maintaining and cleaning technician rooms and areas as well as monitoring supplies
Occasionally assist with reprocessing surgical instruments
Post-secondary education in Medical Office Administration, Medical Records or a related field
JCAHPO certification is an asset
Previous ophthalmology or optometry experience is preferred
At least one year of experience working in a specialist medical practice is preferred
We can teach you our processes and help you learn recent equipment. You are friendly, approachable and comfortable talking with patients, whether you are welcoming them into the room, explaining a test or answering a question over the phone.
You are excited by the opportunity to learn more about ophthalmology and develop your skills.
You are someone others enjoy working with, who is willing to help and who contributes positively to the team.
Our patients are often navigating health concerns, surgery or uncertainty. We want someone who understands that kindness, patience and empathy are just as important as technical skills.
