About Valar AtomicsAt Valar Atomics, we're redefining what's possible in energy. Our mission is to make clean, high-temperature nuclear power scalable—unlocking abundant energy for industry, hydrogen, and next-generation manufacturing. We are a team of builders, engineers, and operators who believe nuclear energy should be fast to deploy, factory-made, and built for the real world. Our first pilot plant in Orangeville, Utah will demonstrate how advanced nuclear systems and fuel fabrication can power the future. Joining Valar Atomics means becoming part of a company where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. The TeamYou will be joining Valar Atomics’ Electrical Engineering team, embedded within the broader Fuel Manufacturing engineering group. The team delivers the electrical infrastructure that powers Valar’s fuel manufacturing facilities, including process area LV distribution, motor control, and emergency power. You will work alongside I&C, mechanical, and nuclear safety engineers in a collaborative workplace that demands technical precision and a solid safety culture.
You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to some of the most technically interesting power distribution challenges in the advanced nuclear sector. The RoleValar Atomics is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design and delivery of low voltage electrical systems for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities. The role will contribute to LV system design, power system studies, equipment selection, drawings, specifications and field support while working closely with senior electrical engineers and multidisciplinary teams. This is an opportunity to work on first-of-a-kind industrial facilities and develop hands‑on experience with complex electrical systems in the nuclear industry.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain electrical load lists and support power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, motor starting and harmonic analysis, using SKM Power Tools, ETAP, Easy Power or equivalent.Support arc flash hazard analysis and labeling in accordance with IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70 E.Support grounding and bonding design for LV systems in accordance with NEC Article 250 and IEEE 142.Assist with sizing and selection of LV switchboards, MCCs, panelboards, dry-type transformers, cables, bus duct, VFDs, UPS systems, batteries and standby generators.Develop and update single line diagrams for LV distribution systems, from the secondary of the unit substation through MCCs and final distribution equipment.Prepare and maintain electrical equipment layouts, cable schedules, tray routing and duct
